Today, Tuesday, November 28, 2012 was Giving Tuesday. Following Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday it is quite fitting for Giving Tuesday. What did you give today? Was it your time, a smile, a cup of water, shoes, a meal, your place in line, money…
Were you intentional in giving because it was Giving Tuesday? Does that mean on Wednesday or Friday giving isn’t necessary? Every day is a Giving Day. For what you give you give will receive. Sowing and reaping.
I have the privilege and honor of serving with a team of 50 volunteers. People that are giving of their expertise, time and occasionally finances. What they are reaping is sharpened skills, a chance to add value, a purpose, being productive, affirmation, community…and so much more. Most of these volunteers have been giving by serving for extended periods of time, beginning when unemployed and continuing while employed.
There are days when serving with these amazing volunteers that I receive way more than I give. They are Difference Makers. They are GIVERS.
How are you giving today…even if it’s not Giving Tuesday? What are you sowing? Be a GIVER.
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times,
having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”
